Update about the Benefit....

Just wanted to follow up about my previous post. The benefit was a large success. The entire event raised over $100,000 which directly benefits The American Cancer Society. The portrait station was a busy all night. Everyone was dressed to the nines and wanted to have their portrait made.

My husband, Dino, was a great host/emcee , the band was awesome, playing all that old big band swing music. The food was delightful as was the decor.

Me and dino were honored that we could help out such an important organization. A good time was had by all!!! We are looking forward to next year`s gala!!

Here is a cool collage of candids and a few portraits from the big night.

Till Next Time!!

Benefit........

This post really has nothing to do with wedding photography. Portrait photography, maybe, but it really is not about that either. It really has more to do with a topic I would like to share with my friends and clients.

Each year around the holidays many of us start thinking of all the parties, gatherings, good food and wonderful times that can be had. I too think about these things as I really do love spending time with friends and family. I also think about people who are less fortunate than myself. This year I have been approached by the American Cancer Society to donate my time for a large benefit called The Henderson County Cattle Baron`s Charity Gala. The black tie event is in its 8 year and attracts over 600 attendees. This year`s event will be held at The Cain Center in Athens, Texas on Nov. 5th starting at 7pm. I will be providing a portrait station on the night of the event as well as two roving photographers to capture candids of the crowd. The images will be for sell and all of he proceeds from the portraits and candids will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

I am excited about this event and the opportunity to donate some time and money to a very worthy cause. So many of us have been affected by cancer. I personally have had family members and friends who have past away due to some form of cancer as I am sure most of you have too. If you live in Henderson or the ajoining counties please consider attending this very special event. There will be live music (a 17 piece band) playing swing music, dancing , great food, live and silent auctions and much more. Plus my wonderful husband, Dino, has donated his time to be the MC for the event. Email me if you want to learn how to get tickets.

If you can not attend this event I encourage each one of you to get involved in some kind of charity or special cause before this year is done. But don`t stop there.........carry it over into 2006. Not only will you be helping others in the long run you will be helping yourself as well!!

Blast from the past....

Well, I have not been as good at posting to my Blog as I should be but today I got a nice email from a past client and thought I would post it here. Now mind you this is a client from over 5 years ago and she had to hunt me down because I have since sold the studio I owned in Las Vegas and moved over a thousand miles away.

To hear her say that she is still impressed every time she views her images and that she still appreciates my relaxed nature and personality really makes me love my job!! Of course, I enjoy the money but the real reward in this business is the gratitude I receive from my clients. Thank You So Much Guys!! Make sure you check out the updates at www.txweddingphotography.com

P.S. And to Jennifer I wish you much luck in your pursuit of photography!!!

Below is what she wrote:

Hello Jamye,
My name is Jennifer Price and you photographed our wedding about 5 years ago in Las Vegas. The reason I'm writing you is two-fold. One would be to just say thank you for the wonderful photos you produced for us. I'm always impressed every time I look at them. Your relaxed, easy-going style really made it a wonderful experience. And secondly, I'm a member of a digital photography website and they started a forum thread asking to post our favorite wedding photos. I posted one that you took that is very special to us and credited you and linked to your new website (I see you're in Texas now). Here is the link to the website if you'd like to check it out:http://www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=298235 . After posting it, I thought that maybe I should check with you to make surethat this was okay. If it is not, I'll be happy to delete the post. I hope your business is booming and that life is finding you well. :-)
Warm regards,
Jennifer Price

New Rising Star......

A few months ago I hired a new camera assistant. Her name is Farrah and she is really starting to show some promise. I first met Farrah when I shot her and Billy`s wedding last year. She and Billy were very easy to work with and I very much enjoyed the experience of capturing their wedding day memories.

As time progressed me and Farrah became friends and kept in touch. While out shopping one day I ran into her. She was so excited because she had just gotten a new camera and was learning to use it. She told me how the photographs I had captured of her wedding had inspired her to learn more about photography. She told me that she looked at her wedding images so often and just wondered how I could possibly of captured some of the images I had.

Hearing the excitement in her voice and seeing the sparkle in her eyes made me offer her a job on the spot. She has been working hard and learning alot. I have spent sometime showing her some tips and tricks and helping her get her feet wet in the digital editing arena.

In the coming months I hope that Farrah can grow as photographer. I enjoy teaching people and I hope that she will stick with it. I will post some of her images for ya`ll to see very soon.

Pictage

I have recently partnered with Pictage to provide onlines services to my wedding and events clients. I have offered these services in the past but never felt the companies made it easy for my clients to get what they need. Pictage is an industry leader providing services to some of the best wedding photographers in the country. I hope that my clients find this service valuable and helpful. Newlywed couples will now be able to allow their friends and families to view images from their event, purchase prints and even DVD presentations of their favorites. Pictage also offer me a wide range of proofing products , finals prints , promotional tools and a really cool forum where I can interact with other photographers from all over the country. The forum has allowed me some insight into how other photographers Handel business and create breathtaking images. I always leave the forum with new ideas that relate to me providing a higher quality service and product for my clients. Check out Pictage.

Robert & Holly

I just made a collage of some of my favorite images from a recent wedding I shot. The couple is Holly and Robert Blaase. Me and Dino both knew Robert and Holly before working together on their wedding. The wedding took place in Gun Barrel City, Texas at the First Baptist Church. It was a beautiful ceremony with a fun rockin` reception much later in the evening.

My first blog.

So everyone has a blog now and not to be left out of course I had to create one too. Really I just wanted to share with my friends and clients some of my thoughts, ideas and images on the topic of weddings, photography and the creative process involved in capturing peoples most cherished, life changing moments. Photography to me is such an important, meaningful and wonderful invention. The ability to stop time, freeze a moment and contain that moment in an image is simply awesome. To be able to capture those moments and do it for a living is, for me, an extremely rewarding and fulfilling job. Thank you to all of my friends and clients who let me do what I love and pay me for it!!!
